IMO, it’s a lazy rule that perpetuates the echo chambers and inhibits the discussion of alternative paths forward. Rule 1 is a means to control discussion to only ideas presented my sponsored media.

Notability is fine as a metric for political topics, as anything worth discussing on a political board will be reported on by some outlet.
