Why is there a widely used protocol with no public specification available?
Money.
Hollywood execs love their DRM.
Ah, right, the illegal HDMI-splitters. 🤪🐦
Not just widely used, but a monopoly. TVs don’t come with any other ports and now they’re restricting who can use this technology that has no other choice.
There needs to be an antitrust lawsuit against the HDMI forum IMO.
Is it because of the HDMI Forum that we don’t have HDMI-CEC on desktop GPUs?
Fuck anybody that goes against open standards.
