Did I get solerpunk right this time?

The art style I’m going for is heavily influenced by Lilo and Stitch. Easily my favorite (mostly) hand drawn cartoon/movie for its style.

AI is always fun!! When I make these in SD I’ll often take the time to correct them but in Dall-E I just tend to leave it unless I plan to upscale the image and use it elsewhere.

I’ve printed some at the local print shop for folks who’ve asked for them. Mostly my Mom which is really sweet. I also post stuff under my real name for business stuff and I use AI art to some extent where I’ll fix weird stuff.

This is more a utopian scenery than Solarpunk. It’s pure optimism and depicting a seemingly perfect world. But Solarpunk isn’t just a dream of a perfect society with some solar panels.

It’s a positive picture that evokes happiness, for sure. But this image doesn’t show the “Punk” part of Solarpunk, the spirit of rebellion and counterculture, grassroots activism, DIY ethics. It misses realism that transports the current state of the world with all its problems and difficulties into a setting of an eco-centric future with a sustainable civilization.

I’m not sure how to draw the second paragraph then, as someone who just became a grandfather I thought this was pretty close.

Ok, I’m not sure myself how I would create a good Solarpunk scenery. I’ll see if I can try later and then post something.

Maybe we need a Solarpunk Challenge here in the community?

    It’s much better!

If I had to critic, it’s that this could be any city park that installs some solar panels. There’s nothing super uniquely SolarPunk about it (but it could also exist in a SolarPunk society, so it’s not not representative of one).

SolarPunk is largely a political movement/aesthetic about an idealised society, so show some more of the uniqueness of such a society. Maybe communal farms where humans and robots work together, reclaimed cities where the asphalts turned into grass and bike paths, houses which show of the owners individual tastes without regards to centralised planning decisions on colours or form, etc.

For being a corporate advertisement, this Chobani ad is one of the best examples of a SolarPunk future: https://youtu.be/z-Ng5ZvrDm4?si=58r1M21gIor8jBRC
