What does it mean when the highest court in your ostensible democracy is this obviously compromised?
I mean morally it’s obvious. Their judgements are invalid. Useless. Feel free to ignore anything they say if you can get away with it. But unless we’re down for anarchy, what means do we have to deal with this? Legally the president can pack the court. So long as he can get the senate to go along. But he doesn’t seem to want to, and there are no viable alternatives to the president we have. Not yet, anyway.
So here we are. A ‘democracy’ with a supreme court that’s openly compromised, if not outright corrupt. Nobody’s running on a ‘maybe the supreme court shouldn’t be filled with 18th century ideologues and grifters’ platform. Nobody’s talking about upside down flags and RVs on the major networks.
So what do?
They are mortal. They do what they do because they do not fear consequences.

Well according to Trump logic, Biden could just have all the conservative judges assassinated by seal team six. As long as the Senate doesn’t convict, it’s not illegal and completely OK.
It’s embarrassingly cheap to buy a member of the US Supreme Court.
Way too cheap. You’d think they would have the decency to demand a higher rate for their corruption. It makes it worse to know how cheaply they’ve sold us all out. I’d call them whores but I don’t want to insult whores.

A politicized judiciary, legislatures drawing districts, the electoral college making the popular vote irrelevant, and militarized police are starting to make me question whether we’re actually a democracy.
Oh well, at least I can vote for alderman and NBA All Stars or whatever.
