There’s a french song about being down very bad, called “Ne me quitte pas” by Jacques Brel, in which the singer proposes increasingly impossible things for his wife not to leave him (it might actually be that she’s dead idk I’m not a nerd).

He suggests bringing her pearls of rain from lands where it doesn’t rain, followed by suggesting being her shadow’s shadow, her hand’s shadow, and her dog’s shadow. Supposedly there’s a really dramatic dimension to it and Jacques Brel is a staple of french music from that era, but personally I think he’s just that down bad.
