Why would anybody buy a switch when you can have a Steam Deck? It is better in every conceivable way.
The Switch starts at a lower price point, it’s available at Walmart, it’s more durable for the average child to handle, and Mario/Pokemon/Zelda are what someone like Warren Buffet might call a “brand moat”, where nothing’s really going to interfere with that business model.
Why would you buy a switch when we know the Nintendo Switch successor is coming soon?

The SD card is actually a very simple replacement. A few screws and the back plate comes off, then the card reader is a separate board. Ifixit places it at a 10 minute fix. No soldering, no replacing thermal paste. Assuming it’s just the reader and not something in the software, $20 and it’s fixed.
