Former President Donald Trump’s reelection threatens to worsen global climate change by altering the trajectory of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, eroding federal climate research and forecasting, and abdicating America’s leadership role in global climate negotiations.

Why it matters: His return to the White House comes at a time when climate scientists have warned that the Paris Agreement’s warming targets are slipping dangerously out of reach, raising the odds of potentially catastrophic consequences.

I’m sorry but what was the current administration doing about the climate?

Paris accords are trash, but even if they were good goals the US hasn’t made any serious effort to meet them

Until we dramatically change business as usual, no one president is really at fault

More oil drilling/use, less incentives/investment in green energy, more climate denial, and signal to the world that we will not even consider any new global accords no matter how bad it gets because Trump will never admit he was wrong about climate change being a non-issue

The IRA, while still inadequate, was a pretty substantial bill regardless, and was helping move the needle on green energy.

The Paris Accords were bullshit propaganda with no teeth for enforcement. They talked about mitigating climate change while the 2 US proxy wars dumped millions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
