A US warship shot down “multiple one-way attack drones” launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen on Thursday morning local time, according to the United States Central Command.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the USS Thomas Hudner shot the drones down while it was on patrol in the Red Sea, adding that there had been no damage to the ship or injuries sustained by the crew.

Tensions have increased in the Red Sea region since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, with Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels claiming to have fired ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel.

On Sunday, the Galaxy Leader cargo ship was hijacked by the Houthis in the Red Sea with about 25 crew members on board.

As long as we keep shooting them down with minimal damage, we really won’t do much.

The moment something sneaks through and kills a sailor, wherever it came from will be decimated.

Classic. Can’t pay for the welfare of the common citizens, but will happily dole out military contracts for poking it’s nose in lands far away from home.

We can do both without any issue

poking our nose in lands far away from home

It’s called fulfilling our role as allies and good stewards in relation to intl conflict. In addition to this we have been playing peace keeper and the US, Blinken and Biden specifically, are to thank for this ceasefire

But go off I guess, we should just simply stand by and let Israel drag itself into a full on apartheid right? We shouldn’t be trying to chill them out and hold off a worse conflict right??

Get a grip, if you’re mad about how the US doesn’t take care of their citizens, vote and encourage others to as well, but don’t cry when the US steps in to avoid more death. You act like we just strutted in cuz we wanted to and not because of the implications of our allies involvement and also our duty given the position of power the US resides in (whether you like it or not)

We can and must do both

Modern world commerce doesn’t happen if we don’t “poke our nose in lands far away from home.”

A sane comment that got some people butthurt for some reason. No one is attacking us. We are fucking with people around the world because the shareholders of the military industrial complex need constant growth. They’re losing money without war. They’ve bought and paid for every politician (except for a few). America’s economy will collapse without war. Our politicians fucked this country so bad that it won’t survive without wars. No “good allys” no “peace keepers” none of that bullshit. Every empire collapses, and our turn will come. Oh, they don’t give a single fuck about our own citizens. They can live on the streets, it’s ok. They’re “addicted to drugs” and can’t “pull themselves by their bootstraps” .

Generally speaking, I’d imagine it would be action over/on land. But I think that line is probably really blurry right now.

Against this scale of attack (that is, small and ineffective) there’s not a lot that you can do or that would be worth it. I think we flew one or two two-plane sorties that hit warehouses/storage units, but I wouldn’t expect anything more than that.

The point when we get truly involved is if Iran takes on a major role rather than just issuing press releases.
