Yes. There is a legit plex app on fire stick and roku. It comes with free live TV and on Demand content, but you can also run your own server on your network with your own downloaded content. If you have an IPTV service you can stream that through plex as well.
Note that Jellyfin is a similar app/server that works the same way and is totally free. Plex is also free, but there are additional features behind the pay wall like GPU decoding, PVR service for IPTV, and others.
I actually just recently, after years of frustration, figured out a technique that works. You squeeze the box near the opening so that it bulges out. Then you can poke it with your finger and rip the top open. Feels like gutting a fish, which I assume now is what they were going for.
4 year olds, man. They’re ruthless.
dude, wtf? That literally happened to me today. I was bringing my kid a bowl of strawberries when I stepped right on top of a little toy house. Me on the floor. Strawberries all over the place. And all my kid could say was “wow, that was scary,” and then went back to playing. Savage.
Yes, true. I was specifically referring to streaming of non-live content.
To your second paragraph, that’s a good question. I work for a company that provides live linear streaming along with our non-linear service, and last I heard, the live stream still had the majority share of views. I was a little surprised by that because of the size of the VOD offering, but then I remember how people just love throwing on the TV for noise and not think of it.
Further to that, I occasionally use Pluto, and I find that it’s often easier to just throw on the South Park live channel vs. navigating to the VOD channel and picking an episode. Maybe I’m just one of those old people. Lol.
Would it blow your mind to know that streaming/VOD is also known as “Non-linear TV”? 😁
Probably get it for my birthday and then not play it for a few years. 😁 But really, I want to get it, but it’s $90 here and I just can’t justify that. I’ll probably wait a few years for it to finally drop to $70 then get it. Lol. Also, I keep telling myself I should get through my backlog of games before I buy more…
Played it for like 30 minutes, but never found the time to dedicate to it. Then over Christmas last year I finally had the chance to dedicate to it.
Hahaha. It is pretty appropriate to see such a shift in genre, isn’t it? I think most of my hours on the Switch are definitely Mario games and Animal Crossing. And not just because of my kid. Lol. (Although I say that while she’s next to me playing AC. Haha.)
I’ve been playing FO76 since launch, and I’ve actually always found it enjoyable. But it’s definitely a much improved and in ways a very different game than launch. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you’ve liked fallout games in the past. It’s perfectly fine to play solo, which is pretty much how I played it for like the first year. But the events and other multi-player aspects are pretty fun, too. The first time I triggered a server wide event, I didn’t even realize what I had done until suddenly there were a dozen players around me fighting waves and waves of enemies. It was chaos and so much fun. Also, the world is quite beautiful and there’s something so peaceful about just walking around listening to Appalachia Radio. Give it a shot!
I’ve spent most of my little free time lately doing the daily challenges on Fallout 76. But I recently finally fired up Wolfenstein New Order that I bought like 4 years ago. Lol. I’m really enjoying it. After that, I might finally start Elden Ring which I got for Christmas.
Edit: lol. Just noticed this was the Nintendo lemmy. Thought it was general gaming. For Nintendo, my kid was just saying she wanted to play Bowser’s Fury again and maybe some Animal Crossing. ☺ I do find AC very relaxing so I might have to lay on the couch with that one soon. Or if I don’t feel like relaxing, I’ll fire up Hades again. Lol
I got BotW for Christmas back in 2019 and only just finished it a few months ago lol. I was just happy to finally understand all the memes!
My 4 year old and I started playing Mario Sunshine recently, too, and it’s a lot of fun. Definitely one of the more challenging Mario games, but not as big as some made it seem. Very fun.
While not Switch exclusives, I’ve found a lot of joy (and spent many hours) playing Slay the Spire and Hades. I just find the Switch is the perfect avenue for those games.
I’m ready, Trekkie Monster!
