Avellone bragging that his game’s code has security-through-spaghetti.

This is a ruling from the 5th Circuit Court. From Wikipedia:
During his first administration, President Donald Trump appointed six judges to the court, with many observers thereafter regarding it as the most conservative court of appeals.[4][5][6] The Fifth Circuit’s reversal rate at the US Supreme Court from the beginning of the 2020 term through the end of the 2022 term was 74%, making it the 7th most frequently reversed circuit court; the average rate of reversals was 68%.[7][8] Some members of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice John Roberts, have indicated concern with how the Fifth Circuit approaches cases.[9][10][11] Several court observers have interpreted the court as being exceptionally conservative in its rulings.[12]

Isn’t it neat that the people who want to replace workers with AI are the same people who want to bring back the asylum system? It’s like they are expecting a bunch of people to become destitute indigents for some reason, and they want to round them up and put them in a cage!

A lot of people here are happy to see others lose a freedom that they themselves were never going to exercise.

Low effort post. At least link to an news article, if not the amended rules.
Anyway, this is old news. Here’s an article from March https://www.pcworld.com/article/3099863/wikipedia-just-banned-ai-written-articles.html

Ok, but how conceptually different are the than the agentic AI that can actually do shit on their own, not just generate text?

I’ve never understood why people get so excited about tax refunds, but this provides some context.

Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Cheaters have always existed. You already know this. Why are you making this stuff up?
Not like there was a STEM shortage to begin with.

Using antibiotics for preventative care seems like a bad idea. It contributes to the problem of antibiotic resistant bacteria. And it has side effects, like wiping out your gut microbiome.
I’d he curious to know how many people were getting syphilis in the first place. Like, if 50% of people were getting syphilis before, that would mean 50% of people would be taking the antibiotic for no benefit whatsoever.

Whatever happened to the mom-and-pop magnet stores that sold fine, locally-produced magnets made by hand with love?

Shall we count our unhatched chickens?

We need AI or else we’ll have nothing to protect us from… AI.
I’d prefer chariot racing over the clown.

The judge’s ruling is specifically about not allowing selective enforcement:
However, Barker’s decision effectively nulls the exception. The ruling is largely because, according to Barker, federal courts do not have the jurisdiction to change the tax status of a plaintiff or create exemptions from tax laws. His court cannot provide declaratory relief “with respect to federal taxes,” the judge said in his opinion.

Given that elections are the defining feature of a democracy, I think it would be prudent to wait until after the mid term elections to start proclaiming the demise of American democracy. Granted, the Republicans are trying their best with mass disenfranchisement, but it remains to be seen how effective they will be.
A lot of criticism here for numerical scores, but consider the popularity of tier list ranking videos. Maybe we should be ranking movies relative to one another. Not sure how that works as a UI though.
