Ever since Apollo shut the doors I’ve not had a user there. I still keep tabs on a few communities that don’t really have a presence here, but only lurking, no participation.

Ive never heard kiloliter, at that point I say a thousand liters, or a cubic meter.
The Watch subseries mentions vampires quite a lot, and is a really good read. IIRC, the fifth elephant and thud! Have them as more than just ‘extras’ and names mentioned.
While you can pick up most any discworld book as a first one, and have a good time, a lot of people recommend reading at least the sub series in order, the watch series starts with Guards! Guards! And is really enjoyable all the way through, and a great place to start your discworld journey.

I don’t know where you are, but here in Norway, people tend to get paid when their work is used for commercial or entertainment purposes.
Of course, very few can live off of royalties alone, but a lot of artists get a considerable amount income from their previous works.
(Edited in total, I matched the anger I felt from what I was answering to, and decided to moderate)

Any experienced union film director, editor, DOP, writer, sound designer comes to mind (at least where I’m from)

I know quite a few people who rely on royalties for a good chunk of their income. That includes musicians, visual artists and film workers.
Saying it doesn’t exist seems very ignorant.

It didn’t stop with the camera either. In the early days, wrangling the files and setting up a functional workflow was a nightmare as well.
4K raw video before hardware acceleration was no joke!

Haven’t seen Philosophy Tube on here yet.
High quality and engaging deep dives on various philosophy-related topics. Abigail, the face of the channel is an actor and playwright (and an academic) and that very much shines through.

I second Angela, informative, chill and kinda funny
If you like jazz piano, Keith Jarret’s köln concert is a masterpiece.
There were a bunch of issues with the venue and he ended up playing the whole thing on a broken piano.
This video sums up how the peice happened.
Edit: I like to think it’s a story of stacked disasters and a master artist somehow making the whole mess gorgeous.
Stream of consciousness from train of thought and dance of eternity from meteropolis pt. 2 are really good, long-ish instrumentals that kind of tell a story.
And to answer OP: Metropolis pt.2 by dream theater is a great concept album that has an interesting story to follow.
I had forgotten about maggot brain, such a great song! Thanks for reminding me.
I think that’s mostly the poison talking

Thats actually a cool idea, I’m learning rust these days, and building a personal news feed feels like a doable project with a ton of useful lessons built in. Thanks!

Why should I willingly expose myself to a firehose of increasingly terrifying news that I can do absolutely nothing about? The only possible outcome of consuming that media is increased anxiety and stress on a personal level, so I want to limit my exposure.
I’m sure if anything important happens, I’ll pick it up through osmosis anyway.

Thanks, I’ll look into what the Firefox extension community has. For now I figure I’ll go down to the pub, have a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

Thanks, I’m using voyager and am filtering some keywords already. While it helps a good bit on here, I guess I’m more looking for an ad block extension for Firefox, but for trump and trump adjacent content. Ideally something that includes what his business partners and associates in the government are up to.

As far as I understand, BankID actually abstracts away those numbers. FB have to use an API, and more or less receive a true or false on their query.
They recently opened up for using BankID to prove your age at bars and such, and I think they only get to know if person is old enough or not. Not even a number, just old enough.
Imagine using your numbered days to spread hate on the internet, what a horrible existence it must be…
