The US is special in that bribery is (now openly) legal. These corporations will not change just because Congress says so. They’ll just change congress.

Most people with half a brain. Besides, road signs was just one example about cost, not feasability. Other industries, like construction, have a whole lot more invested in specific units.

It’s not a non-seuqitur if you actually understood how “white privilege” worked in the real world. Assumption free means people not judging you based on stereotypes. It means everyone gets a basic level of respect all human beings deserve, until they themselves specifically do something to prove otherwise.

Basic respect and zero assumptions about intent are a solid start. Those ARE NOT privileges, but what any honest person engaging with someone or something should expect… Someone should be able to ask a basic question about a service you are providing with zero assumptions made as to what you expect as a result or a cost, as a basic example.

For ONE example: Road signage. There are millions of mile markers in the US alone. That doesn’t include bigger signs, like, “X service in Y miles”. That doesn’t include a lot.

Do you know how much each mile marker sign costs, let alone the much bigger signage? Even at tens of dollars, that’s a lot of money, for one type of sign.

How many industries and other areas of daily life so you think include such verbiage?

Failure to communicate is a two way street, and you arguing the exact same phrasing is somehow magically not problematic from your side while being problematic from the other is exactly the issue OC’s talking about.

It is the exact same phrasing that others someone. Stop being OK with creating in groups and out groups by such simple terms as “white” or “homosexual”. Both forms of othering is bad communication unless you want to other and alienate. If you want to other someone simply living their life, especially over differences they didn’t even ask for, then you’re still part of the problem.
