We are.
It’s just that some (bad) people think that being woke is a bad thing, and they are overrepresented in the culture at the moment.
To be fair, some (not necessarily bad) people also use woke to mean ‘comes from a good place, but gets taken too far and is a bit cringe’, similar to ‘hippy-dippy’ or ‘touchy- feely’ in the past, I don’t hold that against them too much.
I would love to see how many hours of practice and repetition each artist had put in, before the moment they experienced that flowing for the first time.
I think it’s to link “I want them to move” and “I need them out yesterday”
Purrpetual motion machine!

Listen, pal: 2018 is recent times! We can’t just go around updating our opinions of things every two or four years! There’s way too many things, and we have so many opinions. Also, some of us are middle-aged and worn out. The only solution is to form an opinion and then stick with it to the death.
Yours sincerely,

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Time travelers going back in time to kill the first religion ever before it forms and fucks up humanity
2·22 days agoYou might have a point about the rainbow serpent being the oldest continuously worshipped deity.
But there is evidence of religion in the form of ritual burial from long before humans first went to Australia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_religion
I guess we need to think about how you define religion, but as I imagine the lives of early humans, their group’s success, or even survival, depended so much on the whims of forces they did not understand. Our brains are so good at pattern recognition and hardwired for social living, that we inevitably see the randomness of weather or prey migration patterns as the results of our actions, imagine some spirit/god has control over certain things, and then start to organise our society around ceremonies to placate these powerful forces.
Tldr depending how you define it, i think religion is the default human way of knowing the world
I suspect that’s the truth about many things. We love a Hollywood narrative, but a lot of the time having some aptitude and then becoming obsessed is the way.

5·26 days agoDifferent people will watch different things. Plenty would immediately swipe away from irl real time footage of political leaders, but might be interested in a slick animation with a catchy tune, and there’s something new happening visually every few seconds…
I could see this being effective to an extent.

141·1 month agoAssuming parking spot is perpendicular to the roadway, backing in is just the correct way for a vehicle with front wheel steering. The centre of rotation is in line with the rear axle. The front needs to move through a bigger arc to line up with the spot, than the back does.
Sure you can make it work by driving in forwards, but then you need to swing way wide out first, to get the turning done (or even, god forbid, reverse back out for a second bite at the apple).

How long was it with your family, and what did you infer from this?
