That only applies in shit states that allow that wage fuckery. There are several states where the minimum doesnt change based on whether the job receives tips.

This is one of the problems with the argument online. Too many off us have different realities around them. Where I’m at they get a pretty healthy minimum (~$17/h) + tips.

Being a waiter at a decent restaurant is quite lucrative in my area. I don’t want to change that for the person, after all, the waiter is getting a cut off every check. It’s like a form of profit sharing! However, I’d rather just have the prices on the menu reflect reality and the business handle all the dispersion of pay without me and my feelings getting manipulated for an extra 5% (after the previously established 18% tip standard was deemed too low by people who get tipped that for decades.)

To be fair, that’s not the actual alternative for the waiter. The waiter either accepts their income as it is with some people not providing a tip, or they can opt for other employment like the rest of the workforce that isn’t tipped. They don’t have to sit at home waiting for things to change like helpless puppies.

I’m in California though so we don’t have any of that wage fuckery where they can be paid less than minimum wage if tips make up a significant portion of their income. It’s $17.55 hour minimum plus tips where I’m at.

I’d really rather see tipping outlawed along with all other obscured fees and just pay what you need to pay to have waiters and charge what you need to charge to have a business transparently printed on the menu.

  • We do and we dont. Almost 350 million people have differences of opinion quite frequently. Thankfully most of the world thinks our positives outweighs our negatives.

Either that or they are too weak to stop us in any meaningful way. We’ve seen how many genocides over the past few years from superpowers and no one does anything? Only way you’ll see a real check on America or China’s power is through a world War which everyone rightfully wants to avoid.

  • I couldn’t figure it out from the bit of the article i could see before the pay wall, but is it stated who they license the content from?

Many times these things are licensed in bundles (especially likely if they all showed up on the service at the same time) and they may not have been able to repurchase the license. It wouldn’t surprise me if alot of that content is in flux with all the creators/businesses being killed/destroyed.

Is it possible they just decided to nix all that content during the moment in history it’s most likely to be viewed outside of its previously very small audience? Sure. It just feels like there’s probably something else going on here.

  • He’s making entertainment. But he also pushed back on him alot, or at least he used to. He really lets people go off though because it’s a 3 hour talk. He doesn’t have to keep them on track or concise. There are lots of episodes where crackpots come on and the reaction isn’t “this guy is right”.

It is a really long format show to watch and actually get context for if you don’t enjoy him at all. Too many people consider him a monster just from snippets or articles, which is why I wish people would chill with the hyperbolic claims.

He’s friendly with people who are nice to him and help him provide good content for his audience. Unfortunately, the more he’s villianized the more that becomes exclusively right wing shills. He’s not just gonna stop the show because the people willing to book skew right. He was booking Elon before he became so publicly problematic. He is also the reason Neil deGrasse Tyson was popularized. And he has research paper authors on fairly regularly. It’s a mixed bag.

  • These kind of headlines really make us look like crackpot to the right. Joe Rogan is not one of the worst people ever.

He’s a self interested comedian and Podcaster who platforms people indiscriminately. The conservatives have made themselves available to him, and he has shows to make. He has plenty of liberal guests that don’t get confrontational or hostile interviews and most of his personal politics are pretty liberal.

Rush Limbagh, Alex Jones, Bill O’Reilly were all actually conservative right wing monsters.
