Games@lemmy.world•Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations!English
4·11 months agoThere are two amazing super hero games that I would recommend: Spider-Man 2 and Hulk: Ultimate destruction.
Spider-Man 2 was easily one of my favorite games of all time. This game essentially set the bar for what a Spider-Man game should be.
Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was an open world game where you were the Hulk and did all the Hulk things. I can’t think of a recent game where you play as the green giant.
People love hot cakes!
Glad we’re updooting beans again.

Books@lemmy.ml•A good fantasy book? you know, wizards, dragons, princesses, that kind of stuff
2·2 years agoThere is a book anthology called Rogues, complied by Phyllis Eisenstein. It is a compilation of short stories from various writers across many disciplines. While there is a lot of different stories, they all come back to a character who is deceitful in character you can’t help but root for them a bit.

6·2 years agoIt’s a story within a story within a story. It’s like Harry Potter and Arabian nIghts made a super baby and it’s all narrated by young man who has done so much. Rothfuss does amazing world building, from different currencies, to how religion shapes a society, to little learned idioms. The main character explains a lot of his reasoning for thinking the way he does, but be sure to pay attention to choice of words our author uses. It’s an amazing ride the first read through, and you will find nuggets of gold and silver during your subsequent reads.
I hope you see you on the road to Tinue. It is the way.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever apologized to someone you wronged for a very long time, or received an unexpected apology in a similar way?
2·2 years agoOh no, he laughed it off like water off of a duck’s back. At this point, I just think of it as a quirk of our relationship. I’m more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because when push comes to shove, I know he’d have my back. Shit can’t be perfect, but calling it once in a blue helps.

4·2 years agoI’ve recently apologized to a friend of over 25 years. One day while we were playing video games, he was making fun of my name as he usually does, and I blew up at him, telling him I didn’t appreciate him saying these things for decades. While my arguments may have been reasonable, my reaction was purely based on my feelings at the moment.
One thing I’ve considered a few years ago was what was I trying to do when I apologize. Was it to make the person who I wronged to feel better, or was is for me to forgive myself? I still wrestle with that thought. I’ve forced an apology or a few in the past, giving them to folks who literally don’t want to hear it, and outcomes never go the way I expect them to.
Sometimes I think we need show ourselves the grace and patience we give to other we love and care about, but be mindful of the entitlements and boundaries we take or push upon.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Anyone else feel like ~99% of their life was kind of wasted?English
11·3 years agoDood. Don’t trip. The Colonel started KFC when he was 40 Vlad didn’t start impaling until he was 32. Samuel L Jackson was 42 before he landed his gigs, after being addicted to heroin and cocaine. Even Billy Joel Armstrong’s kids thinks he’s lame.
Life is a journey. Not a race with accolades and a medal at the end.
Only way to see anything on the journey is to take the steps and enjoy the view.

It keeps giving.
