@mac Get found to be intentionally delaying a train in Japan and they bill you a huge amount of money. Not just for the train you delayed, it’s also all the trains on the line behind it that also get delayed. 1000 Euros a minute seem reasonable considering the lost money for the tram company and the lost time of thousands of riders. Plus reduced reputation for the reliability and punctuality of the service causes incalculable loss to the train / tram company.

I live in #Tokyo #Japan where I ride my #bicycle nearly everywhere I go. For longer trips, there is excellent #PublicTransportation I hate #cars #FuckCars they are a waste of space. They cause too much #pollution and #asphalt or concrete #roads and #ParkingLots are driving up temperatures. I hate risking my life when I have to ride on the street. @conditional_soup @shadowtofu
Would that mean that since the tram has the right of way on the tracks it can simply push the offending driver’s property off the tracks and any damage is legally the fault of the idiot driver?
@rabber @shadowtofu
Tram company makes money by moving people. When the tram line stops moving, they lose money by the minute. 1000 Euros per minute plus the standard fee for a parking ticket seems fair. That should make the driver pay attention in the future.

Home made spike strips and caltrops, on the other hand, can have a chilling effect on drivers. When you never know if the highway is going to be shut down because 30 cars all got flat tires in the same spot, and the devices that caused it are attached to the road with epoxy or JB Weld.

I live in the suburbs of Tokyo now but I grew up in Michigan in the middle of nowhere. 7 miles to a town with a traffic light and 3 miles to a town with a post office smaller than a convenience store. The town with a post office had passenger rail service 100 years ago. My grandpa told me about it. Guess what happened? The automobile manufacturers bought the line and shut it down. I rode my bike to both towns all the time and in all weather. #FuckCars

I was held at gunpoint 50 feet from my apartment at about 6:00 PM, in south Florida. I also walked for miles through a forest at night under a full moon in Michigan at 2:00AM, without incident. I don’t think the distance or time is as important as where you are walking. The mugger in Florida got a face full of pepper spray and went home crying with his gun.

Grammar Correction: Too, to and two are not interchangeable.
Correct usage: He was too old, too drunk and too sick to drive two blocks to the store. Two dollars is too much to pay.I fully agree with you and #FuckCars

Then drive some rebar into the holes. Prepare a large diameter piece of bright colored capped PVC pipe about a meter long filled with wet concrete with a hole in one end for the rebar. Slide the PVC concrete bollard over the rebar and let it dry overnight. With proper planning, less than 5 minutes doing crime on the public road late at night. #FuckCars #Bollards #BikeLanes

I have thought about destroying roads every day for years, every time I go outside. Not the whole road, just some key points to prevent through traffic and to eliminate some extra lanes. I see cars parked in the curb lane on both sides of a four lane stroad and I think, if traffic is still moving, those curb lanes could be removed and this could be a two lane road. Anyone know how to make TNT?
@noxypaws Electric motors get warm, yes. They don’t have a fire inside of them. There is a big difference in how much of a cooling system they need.
@jenesaisquoi
I will look into it.
@jenesaisquoi
I didn’t mention anyone, I just hit reply.
@match I think having a big battering ram in front of you probably makes you worry less about your own safety. If the driver were in a glass bubble in front, they may suddenly feel like taking fewer risks while driving. The safety of others is an externalized afterthought with the current design.
@gurnu @FrostyCaveman
I think the majority of streets don’t need to be thoroughfares for cars. We could block and barricade most streets so that bicycles and pedestrians can pass through but cars can only get in and out by a single route. Anyone who isn’t visiting a home or business in that neighborhood just wouldn’t turn off of the main road. Rat running, the use of parallel side streets to avoid traffic and police speed enforcement also causes a lot of problems. #FuckCars #Urbanism
@hedge_lord @Track_Shovel
Electric cars are even more fucked. The reason cars have the front sitting so far forward of the driver is so a combustion engine can get cooled by a radiator. Electric cars don’t need that. The driver should be at the front where they can see everything and the rest of the car should be behind them. Combustion engines shouldn’t be in cars. They should be allowed in emergency generators and emergency vehicles only. #FuckCars
@null_dot
{Also a train might contain several hundred passengers while a tram might have a few dozen at most.}
True but what about the next one and the one after that etc etc? This driver didn’t just block the tram they blocked the line. Intent is proven by the obvious tracks that are being blocked by the car that the driver would have to have driven over to get to the parking space.
