  • Think assets - the main issue is that all major currencies, banks, and exchanges are deeply correlated to the petro dollar - anything tied more closely to the currency than it is to practical reality is likely too correlated to the usd.

Think of things that could remain useful and valuable outside of the financial system collapse

precious metals, real estate, tools, farms, service and manufacturing businesses

These assets require more effort and have less protections and are currently less liquid than the standard financial instruments of stocks and bonds.

however as a person who beleives in the inevitability of a global financial currency reset/collapse within my lifetime - i weigh those risks and efforts and liquidity as more acceptable than the old/current era’s stocks and bonds - i still hedge my bet by owning stocks and bonds of course - but the ratio between real assets and financial instruments is shifting more to real assets

Do not trust financial instruments that represent real assets like reits or things like gld/slv or futures - during a force majeure event they will just be pieces of unenforced paper

  • I really recomend checking out a weight loss clinic, the one i went with was not a chain and didnt accept insurance, its run by an obesity M.D. doctor, and their spouse a professional dietician. There they prescribed me a flexible diet that has me going to the grocery store and cooking in the kitchen and an excersize plan that has me going regularly to the gym (in the beginning with a personal trainer) and weekly tirzeptide injections and some specific supplements after taking blood work.

I’ve lost over 100 lbs, sustainably at about 2lbs/week, and i feel better than I ever have.

It costs me about 500$/month for the service - cheaper exists - but the support from the professionals along with the guided plan has worked wonders, now that im approaching my goal the conversation has evolved into safely tapering off tirzeptide, how to avoid rebound weight gain (like i have in the past weight loss journeys), technical talk about how ghreline and leptin work and can override will power and how to avoid and deal with that scenario, etc

The pros know how to focus and train you for genuine lifestyle change as well as the turbulence between changes, not just weight loss

  • But with different levels of quality control and potentially ingredients - not trying to dimmenish white labels, they serve a role, but its always been absurd to me that just because something is made in the same factory that those products are identical - a few items might be - but you can taste white label and brand name side by side and they taste different even if they have the same manufacturing marks and have different failure rates (and sometimes the white label even tastes better!)

  • Hard assets make a lot of sense when paper assets do not.

Real estate and precious metals are the traditional hard assets. The stock market can implode, but a home will remain a home, an acre will remain an acre, an ounce will remain an ounce.

There are difficulties and risks and efforts required with hard assets, theres a reason why soft assets developed, but when things go wrong people trust what they can hold and walk on - and thus seek real estate and precious metals as they are certain and tangible.

With a little more trust in the system, there are softer assets available such as bonds, specifically treasury bonds, and there are etfs that attempt to exclude the ai bubble such as XMAG, or the sp500 but equally distributed instead of by market cap which increases diversity like RSP to reduce the fallout of the ai bubble pop

Theres a million ways to navigate a bubble, do the research and find confidence in your plan, and think about how you’ll react in various scenarios, especially when the numbers go down or arent going as high as expected

  • Destroy abstractions

The reality is, if you have an abstraction layer and one implementation of it, you dont need that abstraction layer

People will complain, “oh but think about the refactor if we have to change vendors/etc” but i have yet to ever switch vendors/api/etc and not had to completely rethink the abstraction layer

Just get rid of it, it will be easier, less code, more precise, and in the long run you’ll cargo cult less

Just write the code for the things you have, and if things change, yup then things will change - to anticipate future changes and upfront the work for the unknown only to then have to make more changes once those real changes eventually arrive and dont match your old predictions is just more work and more confusion

  • Suicide isnt the answer

I too am attempting to figure out how to best navigate this new world, my hope is that there is a path that i can walk which still preserves most of the quality of life ive enjoyed so far in our old flawed system, and which counters the strength of this new techno fuedal world thats being built - or at least does not continue to empower it, and also, one which does empower a more solarpunk future and life which i do want to live.

How im finding that path currently is first, understanding what reality is now and what i actually want - but be careful here to not completely devote all your time and energy to just understanding, least those insights never turn to action

Then, im taking little steps, the smallest steps that i can, within this system, but towards my solarpunk ideals, and against the technofuedalist ideals

For me, that means growing a small garden, self hosting some services, going to at least one local politics meeting a month - it also means canceling some subscriptions, not eating some foods, and not consuming ads and using various tools to reduce my information footprint

They’re small steps, but i can tell that theyre building a foundation and momentum, that backlog of experience and resilience which can be drawn on, so that bigger steps, such as quiting my corporate job, moving to a larger property with land to homestead on, and more deeply integrating with the community is a smaller and smaller gap until im able to get to the point where in able to make that leap

You’re path may look different, but hopefully its a good reference for you
