Join us! Your skills can help us wrest back control of modern smart appliances so that they operate with buttons rather than IoT. I’m sure someone in the community will swap you some RAM for your work. I just grabbed a new PC before I saw everything going to crap, and my 2016 machine is still kicking…

Change it to 2035 or 2040 and check back. I’ll bet you for your air conditioning credits against my houseplant allowances that it’s more like this than not.
For what and to what end?
A full-speed race to the bottom!
Starting to think about a Neu-Amish movement where we just stop with tech advancements post 2020 and live like it’s 2019 again. Shit, I’ll give up LTE and 5g to live in a world without social media.
If I need someone to generate slop and feed it to slop-eaters, I’ll hire someone to do it so I don’t have to be involved with any of them.
Don’t get a new Samsung. I liked mine until they moved/force updated to OneUI 8 like 3 months in and I have hated it since. I have an old LG 5g that I’m bringing out of retirement once this thing is paid off. Miss that SD card, 3.5mm aux, and a stable, reliable, predictable UI. Glad I took care of that old phone since LG is out of the market and we have like 3 options in the States for phone hardware anymore…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have I been traumatized into thinking that it is rare for women to enjoy spoiling their male partners with affection?
2·5 days agoIt’s a cultural thing. We in the anglosphere have been mentally poisoned to need everything to be transactional or cost to benefit analysis based. ‘What’s in it for me’ mentality.
Date other cultures to find what you’re looking for, but there will be other expectations from you, as well.
Regardless of the Snoop, never try to 100% life. Always leave sometime to strive for.

21·5 days agoIt’s been a problem since we starting arranging life for cars over life for humans, so probably all the way back to when gasoline was $0.24 a gallon…
Correct, 80-20% is the healthiest range for batteries, but I don’t think it makes too much of a difference to be honest. Then again I replaced the battery of my Nexus 5 in like an hour back a decade ago, but no idea if something like that is still possible

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was your experience with organized crime like?
9·5 days agoStudied abroad, made some friends. One asked me to ride along to his work. His work wasn’t ahhh, ‘above board’ and he had pissed off his boss, so he took me along as insurance that he wouldn’t be treated badly as their govt would be very pissed to have a foreigner disappear as well. Holy smokes, that was an intensive language immersion experience.

2·5 days agoIdk, I can get behind (more like over) a bidet, but a butt blower seems unsanitary and stinky.

Is it jealousy because they’re chatting with lots of people and running down their battery yet still posting compared to your usage?

Remember, it was the F-erman vs Dr. Oz in that race. One coin has 2 faces.
