A lot of people have become entitled to the idea of the “free internet.” In some cases, it’s understandable, like for social media where the platform is doing very little work and nearly all the value is coming from the users. I think especially in Youtube’s case, people are squinting and looking at it like a social media. They wonder why Youtube’s taking such a big cut when they think the content creators are the ones providing the value.
The issue here is that the complexities of video hosting, especially at the speed and quality Youtube provides, requires a ludicrous amount of effort and money. Youtube is providing a platform that is nearly unthinkable, something I consider to rival the entire television broadcasting sphere. The idea that such a colossal undertaking could be achieved without requiring revenue generation is simply naïve, and it’s incredible to think that a free version is even offered at all. Nobody ever really thinks about that though, they just look at it as another platform like Facebook or Reddit, and think a lazy megacorp is stuffing their pockets for nothing.

The disinformation doesn’t really matter. The fandom wiki’s naturally become incorrect over time, since they’re typically no longer maintained after a community switches, so vandalizing it after the fact won’t really change anything. For Path of Exile, it took the developers linking to the new wiki, and about two years of the community sending new players to the correct wiki, before it even started to show up in searches. Even then, I believe the fandom wiki still shows up first if you look at some of the very old entries.

The original requirements were absolute horseshit. Game performance was ass even if you did hit those marks, and the poor saps trying to play it on last gen consoles got shafted the hardest. I heavily doubt the upgrade is going to significantly overhaul graphical options, you’ll just have the same shitty time trying to run it at smooth 60fps as you would have pre-patch. CDprojektred just finally decided to stop outright lying.
Who’s going to charge him with a crime? Iraq and Afghanistan both have the most to gain, but good luck getting the U.S. to extradite a former president to sit trial for a foreign power. The U.S. sits on the United Nations security council, so the U.N. can’t do anything. Realistically the only one who could charge him is the U.S. themself, but that would require a formal admission that the wars were unjust. Not to mention, we’re already struggling to arrest a former president who attempted a coup, and potential charges against Bush would be much more difficult.

I’m not gonna sit here and defend either side, because America’s use of Blackwater was just as awful as Russia’s current use of Wagner. Not only is the answer no, but I’m currently taking a pretty big pay cut to work for a non-profit that I believe in. The thing about really good games is that it doesn’t matter when you release them. If they’re exceptionally well made, people will find them and play them. Immortals isn’t even the most interesting magic Doom clone on the horizon, with Witchfire already looking better and more interesting.
