Don’t spread lies; Wayland is not the default on Debian; nor on Stable, Testing, Sid or experimental
Don’t spread lies; Wayland is not the default on Debian; nor on Stable, Testing, Sid or experimental
Because Fedora is a distro for multimedia desktops (being nice to Fedora); not for a server…
Just… DON’T!!!
Basically the same about the last 20+ years or so… I use Linux since 1998 (Slackware); migrated to Debian around 2001-2002; still using it in 2023. The 2 only Linux distro I can stand are opensuse & arch. For me, fuck red hat/fedora/Ubuntu… Same bugged shit as Windows! Btw, fuck Flatpak & Wayland too!
Tried to use a distro that was not Debian!
I’d used 2 HDs, 1TB each, Western Digital Black ones, in raid0 back in time; it really helps when it comes to loading times. But, if you can afford, try raid0 with SSDs nowadays; the performance will be way better!
Just try to have a small /boot partition outside of the raid block!
Do you know you can add testing, sid, experimental repositories, right? Sid & experimental have super new kernels/versions…
Why flatpak when I have apt/.deb? I never needed, at all, any flatpaks
Basically, if the problem is the “Easy AntiCheat/EAC”, all they need to do is to add 1 line of code for it to run on Linux! If they (game devs) don’t wanna do that, play another game, honestly!
Debian testing or Debian testing + sid (unstable), with the MATE desktop (pretty & lightweight one, with a super simple interface); also, add the deb-multimedia repository…
You’ll have a rock-solid distro, with super new packages. I don’t need flatpak at all; basically, all the apps are from the debian/deb-multimedia repositories…
Super lightweight (low memory n CPU power needed); awesome for gaming (steam + proton glorious-eggroll; you can also use Lutris) & multimedia & super secure for a work-environment too!
I can actually use my computer on Linux!
On my desktop computer (debian testing + Sid + experimental; AMD Ryzen; Nvidia GPU RTX 3080), that I use mostly for multimedia (blender) and gaming, I avoid Wayland cause I lose 10%-15% FPS on games (both native ones n using wine/proton/proton_eggroll)… so, for me, yet, Wayland ain’t an option!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
You said it for me! Thx!!! Use the distro one, or the binary from: ftp.mozilla.org
Pick one that fits your bills! Usually, AMD ones have more VRAM for the same price compared to Nvidia… I use Nvidia here (Asus tuf rtx3080 with 12GB VRAM), but I’d use an AMD one without problems too, if I had one…
Just avoid Intel Arc right now!!!
PS: if you need CUDA, you’ll have to use Nvidia
Well said! If you start distro hoping on each problem you have/face, you’ll use none Operating System!!!
Yeah, so you’re telling me you don’t want the entire idea suite installed (which can be reduced by installing only the plasma version), but you are ok having 500 different Nvidia drivers, which are at least 350MB each… grats! Continue to use flatpak!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂
Old ass adwaita/libadwaita bug; happens on every distro… I’m really starting to think it is more related to libadwaita itself than to flatpak 😭
Im not a PhD on Arch, but, why are you using Flatpak to install a driver that is available at AUR??? When it comes to drivers, try to stick to your distro ones, unless you really know what you are doing!
Open a X terminal, and type: nvidia-settings
Go to the screens menu, disable the monitor, accept, enable it again and accept…
Happened on mines, a 200Hz one and it worked!
