I would definitely urge you to consider what @Dark_Arc is saying. I was one of the kids they’re talking about, whose parents micromanaged all internet access and didn’t end up doing well. Obviously you know what’s best for your family, but as a product of that environment, it hindered me more than helped. I would hate for you to be doing all the work you’re doing trying to keep them off of what you deem inappropriate, too, when it doesn’t really help in the long run.

Just something to consider.

Idk why the tv show would have gotten them any grace? As far as I know, all they did was let the property be bought and used by Amazon. Todd Howard executive produced, but that’s not saying much. The show has nothing to do with them as a studio. They just lucked into a team who had something interesting planned with the IP.

Idk… That might even out. During a 30 hr drive, I’d probably add on at least 8-9 hours for every 8-9 driven, because that’s as long as I can stand to drive at a stretch without needing to find a hotel to stop for the night. Driving for that long is goddamned miserable, and at least in a train you can book an overnight car to sleep in so that even when you sleep travel keeps happening.

Idk, maybe I’m totally off base and this is totally personal preference, but if I’m already driving that far, I’d rather just take the train to not have to worry about driving myself.

Yeeeeaaahhhh same here. Grew up in a podunk Arkansas town. You are right to sneer at these people. The most casually awful things will just come out of their mouths without thought; like “I’m proud to be white, ain’t you?” levels of fucked up. Or, when talking about buying baby clothes that might be too ‘boyish’ for a girl, saying “Better not, you never know what will turn 'em.”

These are both real situations that have happened to my husband and I that I can remember off the top of my head. They are not willing to be reasoned with (kindly or otherwise), they will just close ranks and ostracize you. Everyone can keep their pity, because even if they had it, they’d throw it back at you because they just don’t like people who aren’t like them.

I understand the human desire to empathize with a group, but trust me, it’s being put in the wrong place here.
