The window panes were cut from irregular sheets, and they were simply installed with the thicker part at the bottom, for structural integrity.
It was a manufacturing quirk.
Sound technician from Spain. Late millenial. I like videogames. I use arch btw.

The speed of sound of the material. So, if the stick is made of steel, it’d be like ~6000m/s. Which is way faster than the speed of sound in air, but not even close to the speed of light.

I played the original for a bit, and my biggest complaint is the level design. Like, how am I supposed to not get lost when the level is a big freaking labyrinth? I appreciate that it doesn’t have a big arrow telling you where to go, or a minimap; but smaller levels and more memorable rooms would’ve gone a long way. I appreciate you actually have to read the in-game signs to orientate yourself, though.
Is the remake as confusing or did they do some QoL changes to that?
(P.S: I also blew up the Earth on accident by doing a quest the wrong way, which is hilarious)
In behalf of the collective, I’m appalled that you would compare us to slop, and kindly request that you refrain from this behaviour in the future. Good day, sir. /s
I can read the difference between a pure uncompressed .txt file, and a nasty compressed .txt file that was inside a (yuck!) .zip folder
I see your point. Still, it shows there’s no such thing as a “super duper stick” because there’d be shearing forces pulling the atoms apart faster than they can move together.
It’s actually simpler: the stick will deform because whatever movement you do travels across the stick at the speed of sound of the material the stick is made out of.

Hmm, interesting project!
Now I have to figure out how to send the program itself over qr codes ;)
Edit: After playing around with it for a bit, I have some questions. Mostly, what’s the real use case for this?
A 1MB file turns into 4k-10k pictures depending on how many characters you choose. My camera keeps auto-adjusting and it misses most of the frames. I could place my phone on a stable surface, angled just right, and leave it overnight/a long time period to finish the transfer. But why would I do that?
If I have no bluetooth, couldn’t I just use sftp (or some even simpler protocol) over wifi , which should be supported even on ancient devices? Suppose wifi doesn’t work either. How do I transfer the program itself?
Even if I manage to transfer it, I couldn’t run it directly on Ironfox, only on Via, so not all browsers support opening local files. I can run it on a local http server like apache, but if I can run that I probably can just transfer files via sftp.
And even if somehow bluetooth, wifi and all the wireless connectivity fails… couldn’t I just use a cable?
I only can imagine 2 use cases:
Disclaimer: I tried this on a 10y/o phone running Android 7, and tried to open it on my current phone too but couldn’t, and I couldn’t be bothered to set up an http server to run it, or self-signed certs to run it from my pc.
Sorry for the rant, I do think it’s a neat project! I just can’t find its usefulness other than being a fun trick xP
Do you know why we stopped the car? 🎵

For more general usage, you can try Redirector.
You just add a rule like
Redirect: https://www.reddit.com/*
To: https://old.reddit.com/$1
It allows to redirect to alternative frontends, and redirect other webs like YouTube too :)
Shoutouts to picocrypt!

That’s a good idea until you download a 10GB file and you wonder why you’re out of RAM :P
I use /tmp as a temp folder for yt-dlp (it is faster than an HDD when adding metadata and subs to the video), and I’ve ran out of RAM before by downloading a video too big… Silly me, my laptop only has 8GB.

I very much enjoy Matrix 2… It has some amazing fight scenes (neo vs the vampires), some cool new characters (The Merovingian, the Twins, Persephone, Niobe…) and I think it’s a fun movie, even though it’s clearly not as deep as the first one.
It’s a shame they never released a third one though 🙄
Nah, I also do; arch on my desktop and laptop, debian on my server.
Unless… we’re both weird… I mean, I’m also weird… but because of unrelated reasons?

I had the 64GB model, and I upgraded it to a 1TB SSD.
It is miles better; mostly because some things don’t get installed in the microSD card (shader cache, proton versions…), so I barely had any space left in the internal storage, even though I had 512GB on the SD card.
I didn’t clone the previous install, I just did a new install from scratch, but it was painless and very fast with a USB-C pendrive by following the official instructions. I had to redownload some games but it wasn’t an issue with gigabit internet.
The performance is similar for most games if you have a quality SD card, but if a game does heavy loading you may notice a difference.
0.5c = 0.25m + 0.25h and you don’t need to normalize.
