Huh, never heard of that, is that a teeny or a local thing? I’ve had transition lenses for 6 or so years now, spent time in two countries, and no one thought them weird.
They probably just didn’t tell you. I think they’re cringy a bit (probably because I had some as a tween and thought they were cool then) and wouldn’t pick them for myself, but would never go out of my way to call someone out for it. That would be weirder.

Nah, talked a lot about them with people, and they always think it’s damn useful.
