In Denmark there has actually been talks about making this illegal.
Parents sending their children away to the “home” country of the parents for “correction” of behavior.
The correction is often based on religion, but my guess for why it has been considered it should be illegal is that it is actually harmful to the child. The child is being alienated, and this alienation can cause extremism and maladaptation more than anything. The boy is right to sue, and he should win the case, because it’s an awful and harmful practice.
The fact that he doesn’t speak the language and is claiming hes socialy isolated because of it, to me, is a bigger deal than anyone seems to be making it out to be. A socially stunted teen with a grudge far far away from his parents in a country where he can’t speak the most popular language does not seem conducive to rehabilitation. Welp, enjoy the future BPD diagnosis.
