Reminder that the folks in charge of the separatist movement own a gun shop, hence its relevancy to this community.
Only because they lowered the threshold.
Still 177k Canadians who have lost faith in the federal government, and that’s just Alberta alone.
More like 177k are idiotic chuds who lost an election and are having a hissy fit.
I’m pretty happy it’s only 177k actually.
Well when the government favours city folk and has oppressed those who live in rural areas for well over a decade you tend to get fed up.
Oppress? You are using words I don’t think you fully understand lol.
I live in Northern Ontario, I know all about rural life. No separatist movement here.
Oppress? You are using words I don’t think you fully understand lol.
No, I’m using it correctly.
Suggest visiting your local indigenous community and speaking with the locals. Help broaden your knowledge.
The indigenous are vehemently opposed to seperation. Maybe you should visit them buddy. Oppressed farmers lmao. What like Notley trying to help farm hands getting gibbed by harvesting equipment was trampling the tradition of youth limb amputations or what?
I note your comment history is a typical blubbering conservative train wreck, maybe you should seek therapy instead of being a loser rage baiting on a tiny internet forum telling obvious lies.
We aren’t talking about indigenous people. We’re talking about Alberta separatists and they CERTAINLY aren’t oppressed lol. Get some perspective.
Maybe we could, though? Like let’s not just discard the idea because it isn’t happening.
First Nations chiefs go to Alberta legislature, pressure province to end separation debate | CBC News https://share.google/6d98tWJkDjXNaHtrw
No one in rural areas is “oppressed”. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Go outside, man. The world is very different in person, than what they show you on-screens.
Lmao. Yeah why on earth would the government favour the majority of the damn populace - it’s a mystery.
If they were communists then you’d have a point.
The main reason they’ve lost faith in the federal government is because billions of dollars have been invested in convincing those people that the federal government is responsible for all the things their own provincial government actually fucked up.
It is literally stupid people falling for stupid shit. Instead of educating these morons, they just feed their ignorance with conspiracy theories and culture war bullshit.
They never had faith to begin with.
People used to be executed for being a traitor. Probably should bring that back.
Well if Quebec gets to inch closer to separation every year, why not the other provinces too?
I think the execution requirement should apply to them, too. Regardless, just because they want to separate doesn’t mean they can take the land with them. And they will have to take on their percentage of the national debt, of course.
I have very select words for Quebec too. And none of them are fucking French.
Tabernac!
Here in Red Deer I never saw a single person signing the petition (I regularly drive past like 6 signing locations).
I was expecting them to miss the threshold and then the government say something like “oh there was enough to show that people are interested”.
I’m really torn between this being kind of fishy and unsurprising. Either way, I fully expect the referendum to fail.
Yeah in Calgary I don’t think I’ve seen a single person at a signing table. They have a bunch of flags and crap out too really trying to entice people but it’s always empty. I also feel like they’ve been out for weeks if not months at this point?
Maybe some of the more rural areas had more people signing
I came across a “Passport to Alberta” that was issued back in the 80s. Of course, it’s a novelty passport; however, it does show, like Quebec, the ongoing discontent in the provinces. And, I must say, it’s always brought on by the politicians for some reason. They are the root cause of disillusionment.
NEP is the last time Alberta had a hissy fit at the feds.
