I haven’t seen the full thing, but I have seen folks mention that not all the effects have been cleaned up in all scenes. Seems like it just needed some final touch ups, not like the Wolverine Origins movie a few years back where whole scenes were missing vFX.
They mix cell animation and computer animation in most animated movies. It was really apparent in the 2000s when they started, but is much better now, although still visible.
I think a lot of the vehicle scences in legend of korra are good examples of the “rough” animated cgi era if you want to spot the difference.
