  • The national kind, yeah. Common knowledge. See above statement about how awful he was.

I am aware you’re specifically referring to rush’s specifically anti-socialist dint. But by suggesting he was a fan of socialism, you’re committing to the same fallacy as he tended to, where he would equate socialists (from USSR so obviously they are mega socialist, and fans of the purges, read authortarians) with actual socialist ideology.

The grand irony of rush is that his solution to authoritarianism was authoritarianism.

  • I’m not the angry autist that started the argument. He is indeed an angry autist. Doesnt change that he has at least one valid point. He is a dick though.

That said, I agree with the initial sentiment he expressed, and including myself in it. The fact is there is a perception that Linux is complicated, and we aren’t helping ourselves, since we dont explain shit.

Linux does not solve OPs problem. Telling them to use Linux does not help them at all because its so far from how to actually get what they want and introduces so many new problems that its laughable.

The fact that using Linux allows them to find workarounds to the specific problems is not a solution in and of itself, and holy shit are there still usability problems with Linux if you start doing anything slightly complicated, which it seems like OP is.

    Linux people be like:

    1. Draw a circle.
    2. Draw the rest of the owl

  • Nazis aren’t interested in what communists have to say. A communist, for the record, is anyone a Nazi disagrees with. The only acceptable place for a communist, according to a nazi, is in the ground. If you want to let Nazis come for you, I guess that’s fine for you. When Nazis co.e for your loved ones and you Stans there like a fucking coward and let them take them because “much precious nonviolence” I guess that’s your call.

  • Or, and hear me out, you could say “portable fax” and be done with it. YOU are making it complicated by not being culturally acclimated to the timeframe when it was written. Everyone knew what faxes were, no explanation was necessary.

Portable fax: thing that sends and receives messages

Portable Fax IS how you describe SMS in the 80s.

I dont mean that your understanding is unimportant, but that you inherently understand what’s being described to a degree that to hear it described differently than you expect you reject what you hear in favor of assuming the folks in the 80s needed more than “portable fax” to understand what you are on about.
