Very true. My level 12 party of five fought a Blob of Annihalation. They won…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the most controversial TV finale?
3·1 maand geledenI see a lot of hate for the HIMYM finale and… I truly do not get it. I will not praise it as a cinematic masterpiece, because it isn’t. But it is an ending that they have been building up since the very beginning, and it makes perfect sense given the characters and what they went through. There are a lot of show endings that cannot claim that at all, with random last-minute additional arcs or forgetting things from earlier seasons. I haven’t seen any of that in HIMYM. So yeah, I think it’s a decent ending overall, and I truly do not understand the hate it gets.
As for GoT; yeah that went into shitshow territory from season 7 for me personally.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there good Movies, TV Shows, Anime, with wholesome family (particularly parent-child) relations?
3·1 maand geledenIt’s kinda mainstream, but I’ve enjoyed Modern Family quite a bit. Sure, there is some friction, but it all works out in the end, so perhaps that fits what you’re looking for.
There are perfectly valid reasons not to switch to Linux. Many people could switch, which is why encouraging switching is fine, but when the entire work environment is in Windows, or they need specific software that does not work properly (or at all) on Linux, fully switching is not an option. I love me a “Windows Bad, Linux Good” meme, don’t get me wrong, but that is a meme at the end of the day. Reality is often much more nuanced, and this is no exception.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What the most memorable moment from any video game?
3·1 maand geledenLives, all mortal lives, expire Souls go to their doom in flame Forevermore
There are great examples in this thread of great games from years past. But from more recent games, everyone who has played BG3 to its close (or near it) will likely agree with me. It was an amazing buildup and amazing scene when it happened.

RPGMemes @ttrpg.network•For a game called "Dungeons & Dragons" there is a shocking lack of both dungeons and dragons
2·1 maand geledenMy players have finally encountered a dragon for the first time last week. They managed to resolve the situation peacefully and have taken up a quest to do for the dragon. Currently they are being mogged by a Blob of Annihalation instead. Fun times.

Linux@programming.dev•Have you or someone close to you converted to Linux recently (with Windows 10's end of support)?
6·1 maand geledenYup, installed Linux Mint for my 60+yo mother. She hardly uses her laptop and does not need anything advanced. We set it up, installation went very smooth (obviously), set up her browser so she can use it like she’s used to, and we figured out how to use the printer. Thankfully it was no hassle at all, it just connected via USB and interacted very well with the printing and scanning software that came with Mint. She was already using firefox and libreoffice, so that was no hassle either. So far so good!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a service you’ve been using forever that hasn’t enshitified?
13·1 maand geledenA bit more niche, but I’d say Roll20 for online TTRPG’s. It has quirks, absolutely, but it has gotten better overall and is free with optional paid plans that offer good benefits which are not necessities.
Slightly hotter take - this one may be the consumer’s fault. They keep making them because 1. copyright expiration, and 2. people keep fucking watching it! This is such an easy thing to use your wallet as a vote on.
Last year, an amazing movie called Juror #2 came in the cinemas. Not a remake (to my knowledge) or sequel of any kind. I watched in the first week of release in my country. I had to go to a less-well known cinema because the main ones did not even show it in that city. And once there, we were in a small watching room that wasn’t even full. One week into release. Meanwhile, Gladiator 2 down the hall was in a nearly sold-out, much larger room.
I love shitting on big corporations like many lemmings here, but in this specific instance, I think the consumers are at fault. Movies are not a necessity. Pirate them if you really want to watch a remake/sequel, and pay for original stuff. Companies keep making nostalgia slop because people keep paying them for it. It really is that simple.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When did Cash for Chritianity become a thing? When even Jesus the son of god wouldn't stand for it in a church? If they preach why don't they practice from the bible?
82·2 maanden geledenFor me the explanation is simple: there is no logic within religion. Note that the bible says to love one another but also says that slavery is OK and that gay men should be stoned. These things conflict with one-another; you cannot be kind if you have slaves and stone other people, and you cannot have slaves and stone people if you are kind. It is physically impossible to follow all the rules in the bible. Many of its followers do not realize this, so their critical thinking skills are either lacking or damaged from all the BibLe gOoD thumping that they received from a young age. And because their critical thinking skills are damaged, many do not realize the obvious problem with giving money when jesus was, according to the book, not condoning this.

181·2 maanden geledenI read another headline earlier, something like “Blizzard strands 1000 people on Mt Everest.”
And my early morning brain went “ugh Blizzard really is an awful company, going way too overboard with their promotional material.” I wasn’t even that surprised.
Now I see this headline and that earlier one makes more sense 😂

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the status on Wikipedia donations?
902·2 maanden geledenIn the current day and age of misinformation I think donating is more important than ever. It doesn’t need to be much.
I have given up on that. I will respect individuals who follow the buffoonery unless they give me reason not to, sure, but I will never respect a book that says I should be stoned to death, and the surrounding culture that such a book is about love and acceptance.

Funnily enough it was treated as such, and same with the “critical miss”
With us it kind of depends on the situation. If a critical success or fail would make sense or be very funny we treat it as such.
