The problem with statements like this is that they only ever seem to be made by narcissists who thinks work is only those efforts that directly benefit them. The end of my “work day” is when I start my other job of working for myself. I manage my home, I take care of my garden, I put effort into maintaining or improving my physical and mental well being, I foster and build the relationships in my life that I care about, etc. All of that is work, it’s just work that I do for myself and don’t get a paycheck for.

Personally, I consider family to be a social group more than a biological relationship. I have relatives that I’ve never met in my adult life that I don’t consider family. Conversely, there are people I consider family that were brought into my life through marriage, adoption, and close friendships.

The big ones for me were joint pains, chronic headaches, and cramping that made me feel like I needed to take a painful crap. For some strange reason, that last one only occur in the middle of the night and it would last for a good hour or so.

So many odd physical conditions ended up being the result of dehydration and went away once I started drinking water throughout my day. I was in my 30s when I learned that one.

If you know something to be false and try to pass it off as truth, that is lying. It doesn’t matter how you phrase it or try to hide behind symantics like “I’m just asking questions” or “it’s just a hypothetical”.

That being said, it does not mean that you cannot contribute to a conversations if you are not an authority on a subject. If you are not sure or cannot recall a credible source for your information you can preface your comment with something like “I never confirmed the validity of this, so I may be completely wrong, but…”.

It’s not like Trump called pro-Palestinians protestor “pro-Hamas thugs” and “jihad sympathizers” or said “I will give Israel the support that it needs to win but I do want them to win fast” or called attempts by Biden to negotiate a cease fire an attempt to “tie Israel’s hand behind its back”.

How could anybody have known? By looking at how he handled conflicts in the area during his first administration? What are we? A nation of nerds that try to make educated decisions about our political leaders?

I agree with you about prison not being a panacea for criminal / violent behavior.

When given the chance to address the court prior to his sentencing, DePape, dressed in prison orange and with his brown hair in a ponytail, spoke at length about Sept. 11 being an inside job, his ex-wife being replaced by a body double, and his government-provided attorneys conspiring against him.

“I’m a psychic,” DePape told the court, reading from sheets of paper. “The more I meditate, the more psychic I get.”

While I don’t think that DePape should be released into the public, it sounds like some sort of psychiatric facility would be more appropriate for him. Ignoring mental health issues is not going to make them go away and maybe if he and others like him were put someplace where he could be observed then we, as a society, may be able to put some policies in place to address future potential dangers before they culminate in violence.

That’s the point. If 3rd parties were serious about governing they would appear as options for way more local elections. Instead they serve as throwaway protest votes for people who want to say “I voted” without actually having to take any responsibility the who is in office.
