I suppose that depends on how we define improvement, because from where I’m sitting, it’s reasonable to be apprehensive about LLM’s and their output when we see spectacular failure after spectacular failure.

Whether it’s bombing a school in Iran because Claude fucked up the targeting, or an AI agent deleting your email inbox or your production database, or creating a court case out of thin air, or stats in a SCOTUS ruling that are fictitious, over and over and over again the extravagant promises they keep telling us are just around the corner appear to be decidedly half-baked.

And if you use Teams or Windows and pieces of functionality that worked for two decades are no longer working as designed in a dependable way, I guess I just don’t know what to tell you.

It makes perfect sense not to trust this technology, and the speed it promises is often mitigated by the fact that you can’t and shouldn’t trust its output, because if you’re the unlucky SOB that doesn’t check a reference, you can literally become national news.

Further, being that it’s already been trained on the entirety of recorded human knowledge, I’m not sure how it gets better either. You can make it faster, but it’s just going to spit out slop at a faster rate.

The vast majority of these people voted for two things: Affordability and immigration enforcement. That’s it. They, as evidenced by their own political activity and Donald’s poll numbers, do not support a Gestapo-style crackdown of Democratic cities nor economic policy that super-charges the inflation and price gouging they endured under Joe Biden. Further, many of these former Trump voters were on the picket lines in Minneapolis too.

And it’s a good thing that they’re speaking out against Donald now. So resist the urge to be a finger-wagging douche about it.

I’m lucky to have a good job that supports my life (mostly) and ethical leadership in the law firm I work for.

The only things I don’t like about it are the expectation to be in the office on weather alert days (and I live in a place that gets zero degree temperatures in the winter and 100-degree temperatures in the summer) and I have to go in physically one day a week. I’d rather be fully remote.

Only in competent hands, because everything it generates has to be validated manually. My office uses Copilot, and every competent worker involved in complex projects hates it and only uses it for trivial things, like generating an email response, which you then have to read anyway so you might as well type it yourself in the first place. No one uses it for anything meaningful.

One cannot trust this technology to do anything overly consequential or precise. It’s like how Theranos’ Edison system could perform maybe four types of blood tests correctly, but the extravagant promises, lies, and outright fraud about the product were contrary to Elizabeth Holmes’ grandiose claims.

We’re only a few years away from similar documentaries about Sam Altman, and if you read the recent Ronan Farrow article about him, maybe not even years.

Hell, CBP killed two people in Minneapolis and all it did was motivate more people to get out into the streets, people wearing both colors of jerseys, not unlike how Nazis trying to batter Warsaw into submission created the most metal resistance movement of WWII.

November is going to be a bloodbath. The only downer is that Democrats don’t actually oppose anything, so the extent to which it will matter is debatable. That fact, more than anything, should be comforting to you if you’re honestly afraid of canceled elections.

The backlash against Minneapolis was bipartisan, at least among the people. The backlash to the war is even more mainstream. Donald’s popularity is even worse than that of Jimmy Carter, so a significant percentage of people who voted Republican are likely to flip or simply not vote in the next election.

The problem is that people who voted Republican, admit it, and then affirm publicly they’re going to vote differently have the fingers of Democratic partisans (And hypocritically, at that, given their support of genocide) wagging in their face, and people are more likely to not vote at all than to vote for someone who outwardly and purposely hates them despite their change of heart.

Sounds like a mostly reasonable person.

Yes, the Democrats will win a majority somewhere in November. They’re currently up 14% over Republicans nationally and that is rig-proof, blue wave territory. I don’t see them making any major changes though, and they’re probably salivating at the thought of the money they can make for themselves now that it’s okay to insider trade AND insider-gamble on crypto and prediction markets.

A few will give some memorable, impassioned speeches before pulling the lever to insider trade, though.

Their strategy of lying down (and/or collaborating) and letting Donald jump off a cliff has worked, and sadly, to the detriment of all. I wish these bastards had actually opposed something.

No. There are too many aspects of that level of fame that are not only undesirable, but dangerous, and we saw that with how his life went.

I wouldn’t mind being a one-hit wonder though. A couple of years of making millions and just stashing them away. I’d pull a Kerri Green and peace out at the height, take the money, and live off investment interest for the rest of my life.
