Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•These are the 10 most cyclist-friendly cities in the worldEnglish
3·2 days agoThe number 1 is Utrecht which is basically a very similar city to Amsterdam but a bit smaller and less over-crowded with tourism and just in general. It makes sense to me.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ice fishing today for what will probably be the last time this centuryEnglish
7·10 days agoYeah, if it warms enough that the gulf stream goes poof, Europe will get much colder winters.
Is this real? Looks legit but also it’s unbelievable, but unbelievable has become day to day so now I’m just lost TBH.

Europe@feddit.org•UK starts ban on junk food ads on daytime TV and onlineEnglish
5·16 days agoHighly recommend this short film with Christopher Eccleston about gambling ads.
Wasn’t even in Belgium but in France near the border and there was one of these shops setup in a kinda temporary thing on the highway. Still felt a bit peckish after the tiny triangle sandwich so ordered a small fry, was greeted with not much less than pictured here haha. Had to share them to get through it.
I’m genuinely curious about this, I’m assuming the top part contains a 40"-ish oled TV and they’re doing some kind of graphical activity with this (design, photo/video editing, etc). Did they fit PC parts somehow within the bottom part? Seems a bit thin for that. But TBH something in this kind of format in a solid stage style case could be very useful in my field for on-site monitoring/testing.

I’m mostly joking, I think it’s great if we can become space farers, just can’t help but think about what we did the last time we were out colonizing…

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Same brand of cheese, very blue vs. barely blue
6·21 days agoThe mold in blue cheese is a very specific one which is created on purpose manually, that is okay to eat.
2035 bingo card: by drilling forever deeper for oil, we messed up the earth’s core and somehow that turned off gravity (yes, I know there’s no scientific basis for it happening, it comes as a surprise).

World News@lemmy.world•American actor George Clooney and his family are granted French citizenship. Clooney previously said that 'his children have a better life in France than in the United States.'English
7·21 days agoMy family has been in that area he’s moved to for a couple generations. It’s really nice and it’s the south, but it’s very far away from the busy/fancy parts of the côte d’azur. I can definitely see why they’d choose going there. The only downside to this whole region is it votes pretty right wing and you can sometimes feel it in conversations with the locals, but since I’m sure they’re still pretty insulated they probably don’t feel that.
I’d argue if you had a functioning democracy then the Dems wouldn’t have needed to do anything about this, much less need it as a campaign tactic. The criminals would go to jail and probably the conservative party would dissolve.

In comparison to the US yeah probably but still overall pretty high would be my assumption.
