I am younger than that demographic and not the most techy person, so maybe not exclusively. But yes, in my experience with Lemmy and Mastodon that is the trend.

The communities are a lot smaller as is to be expected, but it feels really good compared to Reddit. People are active enough and the overall design is so much less cluttered.
Although the bar is pretty low, given that half the Reddit app is just ads.
I just use 123password
for all of my passwords, so I don’t need one.
My guess is someone who really, really, really wants you to see the advertisements. With a little bit of content on the side.
