Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. There’s always the chance to convince legislators to raise the taxes further. I know a lot of us here want immediate tax revolution but that’s simply not possible. A lot of normies would just be scared off right back to conservative talking points.
Consider the insanely high markup they have for just their insulin in the US. All the stories you may have heard of diabetics having to ration their insulin supplies and still dying alone is horrifying. Now imagine that for every other medicine they make.
Back in the early 2000s there was a Jurassic Park III-adjacent game that used the same gimmick. It was called Scan Command and the idea was the bar code scans would give you genetic parts that you could use to upgrade your dinosaurs. I very quickly found out you could use a thin blanket and rub the scanner back and forth over it to get as many parts as you want.

Communist centrally planned economies suck. That’s how you end up with panicking factory and farm managers exaggerating their production to the state to not end up in the gulag. A better alternative could be petitioning the government for money to start a worker-owned co-op that produce things at quantities that people would actually want. Do that and keep the government democratic composed of different parties with socialist mindsets at their heart and things should be better for all without the baggage of authoritarianism.

Can’t there be an alternative like a user-curated search engine? Users could label their favorite sites with the proper keywords and then the community could up/downvote the results for quality control.

Despite all this shit, you still see people defending his long-time supporters like they’re victims and not willing participants. No one who supported Trump after his first term and subsequent failed insurrection should be trusted or sympathized with, ever.
7 was all the average user could ever want. Snappy operations, simple and easy to navigate settings, light memory overhead, and a really nice aesthetic. Too bad we couldn’t just update the backend stuff indefinitely so now we have a bloated, AI fueled privacy nightmare with a shitty bottom middle start menu with Windows 11.
A lot of the propaganda these isolated people are fed dehumanizes those whom Trump and the Republican party wish to target. These “victims” of propaganda shouldn’t be sympathized with or even pitied because they each have a conscience that they deliberately silenced in order to feel as part of something greater than themselves. Even if these people are somehow rehabilitated this time it’s very obvious they’ll fall back to the same patterns that got us into this mess to begin with.
The only effective way to break the cycle is to destroy the propaganda machine and force a change in the very culture and identity they’re a part of. You’re right these people aren’t a monolith, but you see some recurring themes like nationalism, Christianity, pride in ignorance, and toxic individualism that conservatives just know how to leverage to drive them into a frenzy.
Be grateful you don’t. A lot of us here wish things would be better but we’re strangled by bought-off politicians. It can happen to your utopian country too if your people aren’t careful.
