  • It is like an association and they have centers all over the world. You have to request to join a program, if they accept you, they provide lodging and food. It is free but they ask for donations.

I don’t recommend to do it at home, it is all about the immersive experience.

I don’t know about the science of it but it is brutally simple. There is very little philosophy to it.

  • I think that the experience is very unique for each person, so I will not get into that.

I think the main idea is that the sensory deprivation exposes how your brain works, to yourself.

It is very scientifical because it is all about leaving your mind empty and observing what happens.

This is where the experiences differ.

However, it is almost like a physical training on controlling your brain, of empowering you on what you think and how you think it.

We were about 60 people when I did it, only 1 left before the end, only one other said at the end that he did not find it very useful.

For me it was life changing, I must also say that when I found out that something like this existed, my first thought was “I have to do this”

  • Yes, it is more like a sleigh of hand or a magic trick. When the presenter discards an option, they are acting as a hand of god that skews the probability.

It is much easier to understand with a hundred doors. You choose one and then the presenter discards 98 doors, now you decide whether to keep yours or to choose the other one.

Here it is more obvious the role of the presenter discarding negatives.

  • I am in the same boat.

Joe Rogan was a good interviewer, he is humble and unassuming and gives enough space to the guest to share. If you are into the guest, then you will enjoy it, I really enjoyed his interview on Tarantino and a few others.

It is also nice when he interviews comedians, since you can see the camaraderie and some of them are really funny, like Chapelle, Burr or CK. It is very interesting to listen to them if they are given space.

I stopped to listen when it became obvious that he is monetizing or capitalizing all the audience he has gained over the years. He is not a neutral commentator, he is a pundit with an agenda and he is making bank on it. That has degraded the image I had of him to the image I have of people as O’Reilly or the Bow-Tie guy.

It is a shame but I will not listen to anything from his show on principle.
