  • My brother pushed some buttons in Windows lockscreen, which caused assistance settings to never go away again (I still don’t know how I should’ve fixed it), that was the final annoyance with Windows and I switched to Linux on my laptop. On my PC I switched once I didn’t need Windows for work (remote desktop) anymore.


  • st (simple terminal from Suckless) with Solarized Dark color scheme. That’s it - it’s super fast, super simple, super lightweight, and still looks really pleasing. That is, if I am in a window-manager-workflow-mood (then in combination with dwm); otherwise I use the TTY with default configuration, except for the color scheme also being Solarized Dark. Why so minimal? I have a really old ThinkPad and it runs really smoothly with those configurations in Debian.

    • RethinkDNS as DNS with blocklists, firewall and routing to Orbot via Proxy for all TCP connections

    • Osmand~ for navigation (an alternative to Google Maps)
    • Transportr for public transport (an alternative to DB Navigator in Germany)
    • In general the “Simple …” apps on F-Droid are also nice
