Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, that’s how World War I got started.

Before Avril, we called it rollerboarding. The boards were considerably larger and you would propel yourself along with a long pole, like a gondola. Only the wealthy could afford true rollerboards, however, we would make our own with scrap wood. I had one that was a modified old door that I had attached bicycle wheels to the sides of. That board would FLY down hills but you needed the whole neighborhood to pull the damn thing back up again.

Skateboarding is male dominated because women learn falling as you age isn’t fun faster than men.

I watched a French series a while ago. I think it was called Derby Girls. I ended up watching the 3 seasons 3 times in a row.

I’ve never seen so many women at the skatepark. On quads, inline, and skateboards whatever. Ik its a shit post but I really like skating and I like how inclusive it tends to be these days.

Women on street league are doing tricks never been done before by women, always pushing the envelope. When I was growing up, my one skater friend was one of like 3 girls compromising the entire scene. Now you can catch 3 at the parks on any given day.

But everyone knows Avril Lavigne died in 2003, and Avril Lavigne did invent skateboarding in 2002. He’s not spreading lies, he’s exaggerating the truth.

The truth being, of course, there is no spoon.

      On a non-shitpost note

I’m amazed how things turn out sometimes:

The creator of the blog that originated the Avril Está Morta conspiracy has apologized and changed the whole blog post to state that Avril has not died yet, and that the blog was a way of showing how conspiracy theories may seem true.

I’m almost sure it was about the same way we got flat earth and sovereignty of citizens

I do hate this stuff because there are so many things that just don’t know things and get their information from searches that then might then use this.

There is more that meets the eye,

Can I make it more obvious?

this is what I said about the Linux memes about Linux being hard to use, people were upset I said that because of the “can’t take a joke” angle

but I seriously believe that those memes do more harm than good

thing is im such a hypocrite because I was super sarcastic and I can totally see why folks do this stuff for fun but man I never realized how it would end up influencing little cults when the internet grew up.

it’s more of a “know your audience” thing for me

I can make all sorts of stupidly sarcastic jokes with my friends but when it comes to the internet there’s probably thousands of idiots who read content and take it as face value and as genuine

The Skateboard was invented by “Gustav zu Skate” in 1965 in West-Berlin and was called “Lustigkeitsrollbrett” then shortened to Skatebrett and in English Skateboard 🥸

Growing up in the 60’s I had a skateboard called a monster with a picture of a monster on the top. It had metal skate wheels on it. My uncle said they used to make something like that in the 40’s by nailing a skate onto a board, though it sounded more like a scooter since they usually added a handle to the front.

Not many people scare anymore. Cars or walk (mainly car). At my school of 1,500 there’s maybe 3 bikes.
Nobody rides anything to go anywhere it’s just for fun now around the neighborhood.

Skateboarding was not a woman’s invention. Not sure who did but it predates 2002 by at least 30 decades because I had one as a kid in the 70s. And hey, just found out they originated in the 30s
