Summary
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, after he suggested her “Know Your Rights with ICE” webinar could be illegal.
The event informed immigrants about their rights during ICE raids. Homan claimed the webinar might impede immigration enforcement and said he was working with the DOJ to determine legal action.
AOC dismissed his remarks, stating, “Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start.”
She continues to oppose Trump’s immigration policies, including efforts to revoke birthright citizenship.
How can the “free speech” party so consistently get it wrong when it comes to the First Amendment?
“the law only applies when and where and how we say it does”
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”

i don’t necessarily agree with the entirety of the comment but it is an interesting one to read nonetheless. the last sentence is also very quotable:
Free speech is a code for hate speech. It really is that simple.
Yeah it’s “I want people to stop acting like I’m a jerk when I say mean things”, “but I also want them to not be able to say mean things about me, cuz that isn’t fair to me”. And yes, it should sound like a toddler having a temper tantrum. Including a complete misunderstanding of the entire concept of fairness.
Ahh…see…there’s the rub…your answer is literally the first word of the first amendment.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
Congress ain’t doing shit. Executive unitary theory means the Constitution is about as legally binding as a Dear Abby letter.
